Since 1967, Damar Services, Inc has been recognized in central Indiana, and throughout the state, as one of the largest not-for-profit organizations and a leading provider of specialty behavioral health and intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) services at our facilities in Southwestern Marion County and across Indianapolis. Damar’s service and support array has expanded over the years, providing a full continuum of care including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinics, residential and group home operations for children and adults, intensive behavioral interventions, diagnostic and evaluation services, community-based services for child welfare and juvenile justice involved children and families, and primary and outpatient behavioral healthcare services, serving more than 1,500 individuals each day. Damar Services is looking for a talented and motivated Chief Medical Officer. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for working with the President & CEO, Executive Staff, and the Board of Directors to serve as the highest-ranking medical professional within Damar. The CMO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical operations and medical strategy to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while driving innovation and excellence in clinical practices.

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all medical programs and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives and serving as the ultimate medical policy decision-maker for the organization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and engagement among medical staff, promoting teamwork, communication, and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and legal obligations governing healthcare delivery.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve clinical quality, patient safety, and outcomes by implementing evidence-based practices and performance metrics.
  • Drive innovation in clinical care delivery, leveraging emerging technologies, best practices, and research findings to enhance patient outcomes and experience.
  • Establish and maintain effective medical governance structures, including peer review processes and clinical standards, to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics and professionalism.
  • Collaborates with both internal and external medical providers to ensure client and patient continuity of care.
  • Provide ongoing counsel and advice to the CEO and Board of Directors on provider matters.
  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team and provides/receives clinical and medical information from Damar and Damar's contracted physicians.
  • Provides clinical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of new projects and innovative clinical programs that include collaboration with strategic business and community partners.
  • Collaborates with the provider staff and management team, facilitating teamwork and shared goals.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seeks a full range of business solutions.
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals of all ages at both the Damar Health Services building and on Damar’s residential campus.
  • Uses a full range of therapeutic skills including the prescription of psychotropic medications to treat individuals, including those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Provides primary care, medication management, and consultation services to both Damar residential and Damar Health Services clients.

What you need to be considered...

  • Requires a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership position.
  • Requires certification as an MD or a DO in the state of Indiana.
  • Board certification in a relevant medical specialty, with a minimum of 15 years of clinical experience.
  • DEA registration for schedules II-V required.
  • Experience screening and treating children, adolescents, and adults preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21 depending on program and / or department requirements.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical required.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
