The Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing events for Damar Services and other related subsidiaries of the organization. Ensuring alignment with the organization’s brand, the Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator will work with key stakeholders manage both internal and external events. In addition, this position will be responsible for volunteer recruitment/retention, volunteer event planning and execution and on-boarding of new volunteers.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or closely related field.
Experience: Two to three years of professional event planning or project management experience. Experience with volunteer recruitment and management preferred.
Equipment Familiarity: Proficiency with MS Office applications including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in varies event and office settings; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 50 lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
