Join us in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism. Damar is currently seeking a talented, motivated and detail oriented individual to join our highly skilled team. The Cook is responsible and successful in completing assigned kitchen responsibilities related to food preparation. The Cook will prepare meals, load food carts, and ensure the kitchen and equipment is maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.  No Experience Required!

 

Available hours:

  • Mid Day Shift - 8:00 am - 4:30pm (M-F with a rotating weekend)
  • Dinner Shift - 10:00am - 6:30pm (M-F with a rotating weekend)

Remarkable ways you will be making a difference:

  • Have a part in preparing and providing all meals for our clients and staff
  • Review and accurately follow meal count information to ensure client safety
  • Assist in maintaining the kitchen and equipment in a clean and sanitary manner

What you need to be considered:

  • Prior work in a high volume kitchen preferred, but not required
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Essential Job Functions

The essential functions of this position require the physical ability and mobility needed to perform the job. This includes the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.; operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard; travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation; and communicate effectively to exchange information.

 

The position also requires the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies in an environment where individuals may display aggressive, self-injurious, sexually maladaptive, elopement, or other unpredictable behaviors.

 

Regular and acceptable attendance, excluding approved absences and periods of leave, is also an essential function of the position.
