What is Behavior Support?

As a Behavior Support, you'll work one-on-one with the same student throughout the entire school year, building meaningful relationships and helping them grow academically, socially, and behaviorally. This consistency allows you to truly make a lasting impact while becoming an important part of your student's success. 

This role is responsible for performing a variety of para-professional tasks related to the care and support of students served by Damar. Essential duties are performed in accordance with Damar's Strategic Plan, licensure requirements, and Department of Education (DOE) guidelines.

What would I be doing? 

As a Behavior Support Professional, you'll: 

  • Provide one-on-one support and supervision for your assigned student. 
  • Assist with behavior management and crisis intervention when needed. 
  • Encourage positive social interactions and appropriate behaviors. 
  • Support your student's academic, social, and emotional development. 
  • Help students reach their fullest potential in a safe, supportive learning environment.

This position is located at Damar Academy 
6067 Decatur Blvd. 
Indianapolis, IN 46241 

What are the hours?

  • 1st shift  (8am-4pm)

What you need to be considered:

  • Be at least 21 to work in our Children's Residential program however, we have Direct Support Professional roles for those between 18-21 so we encourage you to apply for the Direct Support Technician role if you are not 21 or over
  • Be able to provide formal proof of a high school diploma or GED
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
