We are looking for a talented and motivated Development Specialist to join our Foundation team. The Development Specialist manages the donor database, is responsible for gift entry and acknowledgment letters, oversees the internal grant process, assists with the development and execution of events, and supports the stewardship of donors.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and other meetings as assigned
  • Manages day-to-day duties in Raiser’s Edge database including entering and updating donor records, recording donations, composing and mailing acknowledgment letters, compiling mailing lists, and generating reports
  • Oversees internal grant process by tracking the expenses and balances of Foundation awarded grants to Damar programs and works with accounting and grantees to see the grants are being utilized timely and accurately
  • Assists with planning and executing internal and external events throughout the year
  • Works on occasion in event management software to enter and manage auction items and ticket sales
  • Carries out stewardship duties such as composing and editing letters, and corresponding with supporters
  • Works closely with the Foundation Operations Director to ensure effective database management and donor stewardship
  • Provides administrative and office support including fielding phone calls, and receiving and directing visitors

What you need to be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is recommended, but not required
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge database or an equivalent database is required
  • Administrative support experience in a professional office environment is recommended
  • Experience in a fundraising department is recommended
  • Experience with special events is a plus
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
