Join us in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism. The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible to centralize and manage the organization’s non-employee related expenses. This role will assist program and administrative leaders by helping ensure consistent processes, cost-effective purchasing practices, and efficient use of Damar’s purchasing resources. The Purchasing Specialist will establish a request and approval protocol and design a system that uses data to inform purchasing needs, trends, and ultimate approvals. Additionally, this role will assist with vendor communication, helping ensure strong relationships and competitive pricing to support Damar’s budgeted and non-budgeted expenses.

• Manages a portfolio of vendor opportunities.
• Develops, implements, and utilizes a data-driven system that informs purchasing protocols and the evaluation of expenses and needs at Damar.
• Manages, receives, and coordinates the receiving of parcels, packages and supplies. Establishes appropriate storage and distribution schedules.
• Participates in recommending budget items; implements and allocates resources following budget approval.
• May define testing and development environment suitable for testing and evaluation of new technologies.
• Collaborates with organizational leadership to identify supply and expense needs, emerging trends, and priority areas.
• Supports the work of Damar’s executive leadership in establishing and maintaining the organization’s financial health.
• Helps to design and implement strategies for various purchasing needs – including the timing and distribution of supplies.
• Works closely with CFO and EVP, Operations and Administration to incorporate capital expenditure planning and the pace of these expenses.
• Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas.
• Ensures that the agency meets its quality improvement, evaluation and reporting requirements.
• Actively participates in and/or oversees data collection and the use of data to improve outcomes, practices and service delivery.
• Utilizes data collection in relation to driving and tracking outcomes and achieving agency initiatives and goals.
• Provides regular information and data to the Finance and Asset Management Departments – adhering to a proposed budget/budget reduction schedule.
• Ensures Damar inventory and assets are identified and tracked; maintains detailed records of all other relevant Damar Assets.
• Conducts research to ensure familiarity with product options – knowing best combination of quality, cost and delivery.
