Damar is currently seeking a Specialized Initiatives Coordinator for skills building services on our Children's Residential Campus on the southwest side of Indianapolis. The Specialized Initiatives Coordinator for Skills Building Services is responsible for leading, directing and monitoring skills building Services for youth eligible to receive these specific services. The Specialized Initiatives Coordinator for skills building services works with the client on a day-to-day basis using professional judgment and discretion to implement the team determined treatment plan.

 

This opportunity offers a flexible schedule, with some work able to be completed remotely.

  • Manages and oversees the day-to-day programs operations.
  • Serves as a member of Damar Services’ interdisciplinary team.
  • Prepares and maintains clinical records, reports and forms and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Provides face to face crisis management services for clients, including assessing the crisis and collaborating with the therapist to implement services to alleviate the crisis.
  • Assists the therapist in developing, implementing, and revising individual treatment plans; assures that services provided are specified in the treatment plan and monitors progress toward treatment goals.
  • Ensures that consistent behavioral-based treatment occurs by providing guidance and training to employees for assigned clients.
  • Provides individual and group skills training and development to assist the client and/or family in developing skills (i.e., self-care, daily life management, interpersonal communication, illness management, anger management, positive coping skills, and problem-solving skills) directed toward achieving developmental milestones and reducing psychosocial barriers.
  • Works collaboratively with the therapist and medical staff to ensure coordination of integrated care for the client, including identification of health issues, compliance with treatment, and effective client to medical provider communication.
  • Provides consultation to staff on specific cases involving coordination of care and best practices.
  • Remains up to date on treatment best practices to ensure to proactively meet client demands.
  • Completes required tasks to ensure assigned department meets quality improvement, evaluation and reporting requirements.
  • Ensures that the agency meets its quality improvement, evaluation and reporting requirements.
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
  • Seeking the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Acting as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances.
  • Showing initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas.
  • Maintains neat, chronological clinical documentation of all sessions, contacts, and casework with clients, families

What you need to be considered...

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required.
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviors, developmental and/or emotional disabilities is desired.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
