We are currently seeking a talented, motivated and detail oriented individuals to join our highly skilled team.The Foodservice Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of Damar in East Chicago of the kitchen and meal service area, with a focus on both hands-on production and staff oversight. Key responsibilities include managing inventory, placing orders, overseeing food production, ensuring recipes are followed, and training staff on proper procedures

  • Participates as a member of the Food and Nutrition Leadership Team, providing guidance and direct support to kitchen staff.
  • Supports training, development, and correction of staff in all areas of kitchen operations.
  • Conducts new hire training on recipes, procedures, techniques, policies, and guidelines, ensuring staff are equipped to support the operation.
  • Prepares meals for clients, including those with special dietary needs, ensuring both quality and accuracy.
  • Oversees storing and handling of food supplies, managing inventory, and placing orders to maintain stock levels.
  • Provides daily oversight and coaching to staff on food production, cleanliness, and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Maintains kitchen, storage, and equipment cleanliness in compliance with licensing and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to be considered...

 

Education: Associate’s Degree in associated field (Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Dietetics) and/or 3+ years industry equivalent as a trainer and/or management level employee in a high-volume kitchen required.

 

Certification, Licenses, or Special Training:

 

  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements.
  • ServSafe certified, or within 6 months of hire.
  • Proven ability to read and follow written recipes and menus.
  • Must conduct and maintain PDU requirements (for ones’ self and for the department) as established by USDA requirements.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical required.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

 

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

 

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
