Damar Services is looking for a talented and motivated Crisis Response Specialist to join our team. The Crisis Response Specialist provides immediate support and interventions to individuals in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) community who experience crisis, often related to mental health or trauma.

  • Travels in and around Marion County as part of the mobile response team.
  • Mobile response team will serve in a rotating on-call and respond to crisis calls with clinicians.
  • Keeps abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations.
  • Assures that Damar’s services meet best practice standards.
  • Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Utilizes strong communication and active listening skills
  • Implements problem solving and decision-making skills to assess situations and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Provides outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support, and advocacy.
  • Maintains connection to community resources. 

What you need to be considered...

  • Must have at least a high school diploma or GED.  
  • Indiana Community Health Worker (CHW) certification preferred. 
  • 1 year of experience in delivering and response/stabilization and resources to individuals and families. A well-rounded knowledge base of crisis de-escalation, social service agencies, and mental health resources.
  • Minimum age of 18 per licensure requirements.
  • Ability to pass and maintain CPR Certification.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Critical Moments Training (CMT) Certification.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical required.

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
