Do you have a passion for working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and/or autism? If this sounds like you, Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Counselor, Sexual Behavior Problems with a big heart to join our Behavioral Health Services team. The Counselor, Sexual Behavior Problems will be responsible for developing and implementing treatment plans for assigned Residential clients.  In addition, the Counselor, Sexual Behavior Problems will provide individual and family therapy and other support services to assigned clients while assisting the treatment team, including the Vice President Community Support Services, Outpatient team, and other members as designated, in the evaluation of clinical services.

  • Provides counseling services for identified clients and their support network.
  • Maintains required productivity.
  • Performs comprehensive formal and functional assessments.
  • Ensures that consistent behavioral-based treatment occurs for clients through ongoing training of the client’s identified support network.
  • Actively participates in and/or oversees data collection and the use of data to improve outcomes, practices and service delivery.
  • Utilizes data collection in relation to driving and tracking outcomes and achieving agency initiatives and goals.
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintains neat, chronological records of all contacts and casework with clients, families and community resources.
  • Implements, coordinates, monitors, documents, and evaluates measurable treatment goals.

What you need to be considered...

  • Masters degree required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of social work or counseling experience. 
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviors, developmental and/or emotional disabilities is desired.
  • CSAYC certification preferred.
    • Must agree to complete the CSAYC training and start practicum within 6 months of hire.
  • Must already have an LSW, LMHCA, or LMFTA and be “actively seeking” full licensure.
    • Actively seeking licensure through collection of 3000 supervision hours, including participation in licensure supervision cohorts through Damar as needed to collect all/remaining supervision hours.
    • When actively seeking licensure, must submit application to test for full licensure within 60 days of completion of the required 3000 supervision hours.
    • Once the application is received and approved, candidate will have 12 months to take and pass the exam needed to obtain licensure.
    • If the candidate fails to obtain the license after a maximum of 3 years from your hire date, you will no longer be eligible for the position.
    • If at any time licensure lapses (through exam failure, temporary license expiration, etc), you will no longer be eligible for the position.
  • LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification if working in children’s residential home/unit licensed by Dept. of Child Services (DCS).
  • Ability to pass and maintain CPR certification.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical required. 

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
