Where are we located? You will work on our main residential campus, located at 6067 Decatur Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46241

Remarkable way you will make a difference...

  • Provides supervision and guidance to the health specialist team as directed by and in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings, including monthly quality and compliance meetings, and other meetings as assigned. 
  • Processes and oversees prior authorizations as needed.
  • Coordinates educational opportunities for employees and staff including TB validation and testing, Core A and B, client-specific training, and more.  
  • Maintains active certification as a TB Instructor through the American Lung Association. 
  • Attends the Indiana Core A and Core B Train the Trainor course to maintain active certification as an instructor for medication passing practices for non-licensed personnel.  
  • Coordinates and provides supporting staff for annual employee TB testing events.  
  • Offers routine education opportunities for initial and annual training for all Damar employees responsible for passing medications.  
  • Completes routine medication cart audits and follows up with medication passing teams appropriately. 
  • Tracks medication variances and takes action as needed.  
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate medical supplies for campus health services, including medical equipment, dietary supplements, and medication administration supplies. 
  • Ensures health specialist teams complete all appointment paperwork as assigned.  
  • Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction. Stakeholders may include providers, families, clients, and more. 
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth. 
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Acts as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances. 
  • Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas.  
  • Monitor services and actively promote agency philosophy in the delivery of those services.  
  • Completes and updates mandatory training and other licensure related items in a timely manner. 
  • Collects quality and compliance data monthly as assigned. 
  • Monitors quality metrics defined by external licensing agencies to ensure timely completion of assessments and documentation. 
  • Serves as the Damar residential VFC Primary Coordinator. Responsible for ensuring vaccine storage units have temperatures documented within the timeframe defined by the ISDH. 
  • Maintains adequate vaccine inventory for both VFC and private insurance clients. 
  • Maintains documentation that is accurate and legible. 
  • Completes incident reports, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you need to be considered...

  • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
  • Must have an active Indiana RN nursing license. Experinced LPNs may also be considered.
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training is required, certification is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass and maintain CPR Certification. 
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical required. 
  • One year of experience working with nuropsychiatric or behavioral challengesand/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population preferred.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

 

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

 

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
