Join us in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism. Damar is looking for a passionate Employee Advocate and Engagement Specialist! This role serves as a dedicated resource for Damar employees, providing support, guidance, and advocacy to enhance their overall well-being and engagement within the organization. This role ensures employees have access to both internal company resources and external community services, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. The Employee Advocate and Engagement Specialist will work closely with HR Operations, Benefits, and Talent Acquisition, as well as Damar leadership, to promote employee engagement, recognition, and well-being.

 

Schedule: Please note the Employee Advocate and Engagement Specialist will be expected to have presence over all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and weekends), so flexibility is needed.

Some of the ways you will be making a difference...

 

• Act as a compassionate listener for employees managing difficult client interactions or allegations, offering validation and support.
• Facilitate communication between employees and company departments to ensure their concerns and needs are effectively addressed.
• Connect employees with internal support programs, including benefits, career counseling, spiritual leadership, and employee assistance services.
• Responsible for managing initiatives that enhance employee experience, engagement, and company culture, such as celebrating work anniversaries or recognizing personal or professional milestones.
• Collaborate with HR and department managers to enhance and support employee engagement programs.
• Coordinate and lead focus groups at different Damar locations to better understand and support employee needs.
• Connect employees with external community resources such as financial aid programs, transportation services, food banks, shelters, and mental health services, legal services, childcare, resources for aging, domestic violence, food assistance, housing assistance, utility assistance, and homelessness prevention.
• Distribute communications related to employee events, including promotions, special announcements, and, when appropriate, funeral notifications, ensuring timely and sensitive messaging.
• Maintain a regular and visible presence across all Damar locations and shifts, including weekends, to ensure all employees have access to support, engagement, and advocacy regardless of their work schedule.
• Assist employees with personal property damage claims related to workplace incidents in accordance with Damar policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What you need to be considered...

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in the field of Human Resources, Employee Relations, Social Work, or a related field.
  • LSW/LCSW preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical required. 

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
