Are YOU a licensed Teacher? Do YOU want to help improve the lives of kids facing life’s greatest developmental and behavioral challenges? Damar is looking for YOU-- a talented, motivated and detail oriented Teacher-- to make a difference in a variety of skilled tasks to educate students at Damar Freeway Academy! You would have the opportunity to set the tone of instruction for the class, develop and participate in activities promoting skill development identified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) including academics, behavioral stability, communication skills, social functioning skills, independence (self help and daily living) skills, and vocational skills. You would also be responsible for completing state assessments such as ISTAR or ISTEP, and other specific assessments (WIAT-II, ABAS-II, CBC, WRAT, CBMs, FBAs).
Who would I teach? In your classroom at Damar Freeway Academy, you would make a difference by teaching young boys and adolescent girls receiving special education services with mild to moderate functioning diagnosis, and a full scale IQ of less than 75. You would have the support of 1 Teacher Assisant, behavior support 1:1s, and residential team members!
When would I teach? Monday-Friday 8:30a-3:00p

Essential Job Functions:
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
