Our Resource Specialist position on our Resource Team is one of Damar's most unique departments! This team strives to keep the environment safe for our clients, as well as provide support for our other direct care staff. It is a great role that builds leadership skills while still making a difference in our clients' lives!

 

What shifts are available?

  • Weekend Shift Sat&Sun (7:00a - 11:00p)

Some of the ways you will be making a difference...

  • Effectively responds to and manages crisis situations for all Damar programs - taking the leadership role in de-escalation and/or intervention when needed.

  • Initiates special precautions for clients that exhibit and meet high risk behavior criteria.

  • Takes appropriate action regarding any events that affect the mental and physical well-being of the residents, including but not limited to, providing client and staff support, informal training and crisis management.

  • Understands behavior support plans for high acuity clients.

What you need to be considered...

  • Be at least 21 to work in our Children's Residential program however, we have other Direct Support Professional roles for those between 18-21 so we still encourage you to apply if you are not 21 or over.
  • Must have six months of full-time experience working with behavioral challenges and/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population.
  • Be able to provide formal proof of education required for the position
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical
  • Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening
  • Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal offenses

Essential Job Functions:

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
