Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Medical Care Coordinator whose primary responsibilities involve oversight of client referrals and medical appointments, medication prior authorizations, and medical quality data. The Medical Services Coordinator will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with external medical providers and will serve as the point of contact for all medical appointments. This position is responsible for making appointments, overseeing transportation to the appointment, preparing medical paperwork, and processing medical paperwork upon completion of appointment. This person will be trained to pass medications and will be utilized to train others by shadowing medication administration.

Remarkable way you will make a difference...

  • Coordinates appointments with campus staff and external providers.
  • Completes monthly quality data timely and efficiently.
  • Complete medical prior authorizations for Damar residential clients. Obtains necessary medical documentation for approval and follows up with providers and nursing with status updates.
  • Documents appointment updates in the electronic medical record as appropriate.
  • Coordinates medical needs with the nursing department and medical providers, including immunization needs, appointment updates, and prior authorization status.
  • Ensure medication room and cart are organized to meet best practice health standards.
  • Tracks and schedules appointments with external providers including psych, dental, vision, lab, and imaging.

What you need to be considered...

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with clients with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21 depending on program and / or department requirements.
  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment  physical required.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
